The Pinzgauer all-terrain utility vehicles are one of a kind. They are totally customizable like no other Military 4×4 truck. The Pinzgauer serves almost all military users, that is what make them so popular. The Pinzgauer truck was first manufactured by Austrian based Steyr-Daimler-Puch. The first Pinzgauer came into service in 1965 and has been a very popular truck ever since. The initial trucks were 4x4, but later a 6x6 version was added. By 1985, there were over 20,000 trucks produced.
Most Pinzgauer trucks can be imported to the United States, but since the second generation Pingauzers are expensive and difficult to certify them to drive in the USA, they are typically not imported.
Most first generation Pinzgauers that are available in the civilian marketplace are likely to be from Switzerland or Austria since they have decommissioned their older trucks. The first generation Pinzgauers were sold to civilians in Europe and then some have found their way imported to the United States.
